Hello ROW families, The Ontario Junior International (OJI) meet was recently held in Toronto and featured two of our ROW athletes. For those of you who are new to the club, the OJI meet is one of the fastest Short Course meets in the world. In fact, Canadian National Team members, including Ella Jansen and Lorne Wigginton, as well as multiple Ontario and Canadian Age Group Record Holders, including Laon Kim and Madison Kryger were present at this meet. The OJIs also included a loaded British Tour Team containing the...

On the December 8-10th weekend, 36 ROW swimmers attended GMAC’s Dash for Cash from RSA Comp, JD1 and swimmers from other competitive groups who didn’t participate in the team travel meet in Windsor. The small but mighty group of ROW athletes swam a large number of events over the course of the weekend, where we had many 13& over athletes qualifying to participate in their first-ever finals sessions! Our 36 swimmers had a combined 168 best times over the weekend with 75 top 8 finishes! Medal Count: 3rd – 10...

Hello ROW families, The ROW Novice meet took place on December 2 at WLU, with 90 ROW athletes from our TOPs, RSA AG, and JD2 groups participating. The enthusiasm from our swimmers was contagious, and could be felt in our ROW cheer, which some of our athletes got to join in for the first time! We saw 75% of athletes broadening their event repertoire along with increasing the distances of some of their races. While new experiences can be daunting, the swimmers took the new challenges in stride and had...

Hello ROW families, This past weekend was filled with excitement as team travel officially returned to ROW for the first time since 2019! Two buses full with our ND, SD, PD1, PD2, and AGD groups traveled to Windsor for the Border City Invitational meet. Our swimmers had a great time building close friendships with their teammates while learning how to manage themselves, stay nourished, and rest well through a 3-day meet away from home. It was lovely to see the team spirit and camaraderie throughout the event, particularly the 12&U...

Swimmers from our SD, AGD, JD1, JD2, and RSA Comp teams represented ROW last weekend in the Wilmot Fall Invitational. While it was another unconventional format (Friday/Saturday PM prelim, with Saturday/Sunday AM finals), it allowed our senior athletes to take Sunday afternoon off, providing a little bit of downtime for rest heading into some upcoming meets in the next few weeks. This meet was a fun one, with many brand-new experiences for athletes over the course of the weekend. Our swimmers experienced many firsts, including their first time qualifying for...

Last weekend, 40 ROW swimmers from PD2, PD1 and ND and their families took to the 401 to attend the North York Aquatic Club (NYAC) Cup at TPASC, “Canada’s Fastest Pool”. This was their first 3-day meet of the season featuring preliminary heats and finals for 13 and over swimmers. The TLDR: when all points were added up, ROW placed 3rd out of 21 clubs, behind only NYAC and TSC, two GTA teams with several times as many participants! Our athletes did a great job at preparing and adapting throughout...

Last week, 66 novice ROW swimmers travelled to the University of Guelph swimming pool to compete in their first novice competition of the 2023-24 season! The meet consisted of one exciting afternoon session, where many of our athletes experienced their first swim meet ever! ROW swimmers did an excellent job managing their excitement (and nerves!), while learning by doing everything that happens at a swimming competition: from the warm-up, to practice dives, to marshalling and getting ready for races, to racing in the pool along swimmers from other clubs. Overall,...

Last week 60 of our swimmers from SD, AGD, RSA Comp and JD1 took part in BAC’s SC Invitational at the Wayne Gretzky Arena in Brantford. With over 95% personal bests (PBs) achieved, it was a great experience for all participants individually, but also as a group. According to the coaches, there was a lot of mingling amongst teammates across different groups, allowing for more club cohesion. The meet had a relatively unconventional format, with 13& overs swimming on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, while 12& unders swimming...
