ROW novice swimmers thrill at GMAC’s Fall Skills and Thrills in Guelph

ROW Communications

Last week, 66 novice ROW swimmers travelled to the University of Guelph swimming pool to compete in their first novice competition of the 2023-24 season!

The meet consisted of one exciting afternoon session, where many of our athletes experienced their first swim meet ever! ROW swimmers did an excellent job managing their excitement (and nerves!), while learning by doing everything that happens at a swimming competition: from the warm-up, to practice dives, to marshalling and getting ready for races, to racing in the pool along swimmers from other clubs.

Overall, the meet was a great learning opportunity that will help our young swimmers continue to grow and develop as athletes over the course of the season.

Here are some highlights from Skills and Thrills Fall 2023 for our swimmers:

  • 128 personal bests (PBs)!!!

  • 102 top-8 placings (usually at swimming competitions top 8 obtain “points”)

  • The TOP swimmers of the meet were Miona P. and Lukas H.

  • The RSA Age Group swimmers of the meet were Aubrey P. and Keith Z.

ROW athletes had a great time at their first away meet and are looking forward to the first ROW-hosted novice meet of the season, which is coming up on December 2nd!

Congratulations to all participants!
