BAC-to-BAC champions!

ROW Communications
Hello again ROW families,

As we head into the holidays and a break away from the pool, we'd like to celebrate our success from the BAC Team Showdown held this past weekend in Brantford.

This meet is ROW's largest team competition of the season! Coming in as the reigning Team Showdown Champions, the group was eager to defend our title.

That said, there was a new scoring format this season, which was relatively unfriendly to our roster size of 80 swimmers. This meet would award points based on High Point Team Winners = Points per athlete (number of points, divided by number of athletes attending meet per club).

But our team rose to meet his challenge head on. Our goal? Less focus on individual performances, while working hard to place as high on the team tally as possible.

Here is a breakdown of the three-day competition.
  • Day 1 got the ball rolling, with high energy and solid performances
  • The energy, atmosphere, and team spirit continued to grow throughout duration of the meet
  • Region of Waterloo Swim Club and Windsor-Essex Swim Team contested each other for the entire weekend, with WEST leading (points per athlete) by a small margin for the first two days
  • ROW took the lead for the first time on Day 3 – following the 12&U session – with finals going back and forth – and finishing in a perfect tie for the banner at the end of day 3 (pretty crazy!)

Day 3 was beyond special for the Region of Waterloo Swim Club
Day 3 was beyond special for the Region of Waterloo Swim Club.
  • Coaches rallied the athletes around catching WEST in the overall standings
  • The athletes believed in themselves and each other, going above and beyond for the TEAM
  • As a collective, they fought to achieve a common goal
  • They displayed unworldly amounts of team spirit, pride, and loyalty to each other
This exemplifies what it means to be part of #ROWNATION. And, exemplifies what it means to be part of a competitive sport – having FUN chasing dreams and goals, in unison with your TEAM
