Fall First Try a resounding success!

ROW Communications
Congratulations to everyone involved in our first ROW-hosted swim meet of the season:  Fall First Try! We were host to four other clubs: Huron Hurricanes, Owen Sound, St Thomas Jumbo Jets, and the Killer Whale Swim Team.

ROW athletes across the entire club prepared during the morning workouts prior to the competition where coaches reviewed meet expectations, warm-ups and team cheers! This preparation was key in ensuring our athletes were fully prepared for not only this meet, but for the rest of the season! With this 1-session, tune-up meet following a morning workout, our athletes were shaking off the rust and finding their racing rhythm as the meet progressed. With that in mind, there were some fantastic accomplishments from our athletes to celebrate!

A huge congratulations to Sunny Xu, for improving the  club record in the 13/14 girls SCM (short course meters) 100m IM with 1:10.11.

We also had some first-time Western Ontario Swimming Association (WOSA) qualifiers! Congratulations to Zade M, Boyu Q and Charlie D.

Congratulations to all of our ROW medalists, including: Stella N, Sophie R, Jimin P, Geneva S, Sunny X, Katherine S, Ayla B, Kellen V, Chris R, Sebastian H, Joseph L, Aris C, Patrick L, Devin PW, Andy Y, Alex GF, Athena L, Olivia G, Margaritta HP, Lulu S, Nikkolai T, Cole B, Edan W, Edward N, Ben R, Ellen B, Chloe F, Natalia M, Wellington M, Vera N, Zade M, Nicholas W, Kentaro D, Cameron S, Olivia W, Nicole Y, Anna GF, Aerowyn R, Natalie V, Abigail C, Finn O, Michael T, Beckett S, Nathan W, Zoe D, Leo SM, Eliza L, Le Anne D, Lucas LB, Xavier H, and Harry F.

Finally, we're also celebrating 242 personal bests, which is a great number of PBs for this time of year!

Here's an interesting PB-related fact for some of our newer swim families: The number of PBs might actually have been even higher when comparing these short course meters (SCM) times to swimmer's actual SCM results from last year. At FFT, we are in fact comparing current SCM times to converted past LCM (long course meters). That's because, at the start of each short-course swim season, swimmers' times are converted from their previous LCMs -- which are often not reflective of the swimmers' actual SCM times.

Congratulations again to all our ROW swimmers and coaches for a fantastic start to the swim season, and thank you to all of our parent volunteers and Meet Management for helping make Fall First Try a successful event.
